Garage 59 to challenge for AM title in International GT Open

Back in 2020, Miguel Ramos was crowned overall International GT Open Champion, alongside Henrique Chaves. Now, in 2025, he is back to do it again, this time with Garage 59, alongside Mark Sansom, in the new AM class.

Garage 59 has entered a sole McLaren 720S GT3 EVO into the full International GT Open season for 2025, which gets underway at Portimao, Portugal on 27 April. Taking in some of Europe’s best racing circuits – from Spa, to Hockenheim, the Hungaroring, Paul Ricard, Red Bull Ring and Barcelona, before ending at the Temple of Speed, Monza, in October – International GT Open promises to be an exciting season of close racing.

Miguel Ramos, who has been there, done that and got the title, is looking forward to getting stuck into a new championship campaign, this time in the new AM class.

“I’m very happy to return to GT Open after an overall win in 2020,” he said. “I’m looking forward to fighting for the win in the AM category with my teammate Mark and Garage 59. Mark and I know each other from last year’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance championship where we competed in the same category and also as teammates in the same car in the 2024 Gulf 12 Hours. Mark is fast and very consistent and I’m sure we will be one of the candidates to win the category. I can’t wait to get started!”

Mark Sansom regularly races with Garage 59 where he has been busy honing his skills in GT World Challenge Europe. For 2025, he makes the switch to GT Open and is raring to go.

“I’m delighted to remain with Garage 59 for a second full season in the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO. This is my first attempt at the GT Open championship and I’m excited to experience the Michelin tyres and fast balance of performance on a series of outstanding circuits. To get to take on the championship with a teammate as experienced - and fast! - as Miguel is something I am really looking forward to. Let’s see what we can do!”

Each standard GT Open race weekend is made up of two races: a 70-minute race on Saturday and a 60-minute race on Sunday so competitors get two bites at the cherry. The Spa and Monza events hold a single 2hr40 endurance race on the Sunday.
